Glentoran Football Club has donated over 90 new toys to three local community organisations in East Belfast following the success of their inaugural 2011 Christmas Toy Appeal.

The Glentoran Christmas Toy Appeal 2011 – supported by the Glentoran ‘Our Club, Our Community’ Programme – asked supporters and the local community to donate new toys to help ensure as many children as possible can open a present this Christmas.

The selected community organisations - Carew II Family & Training Centre, Connswater Community Centre and Short Strand Community Centre – will now distribute the 90 toys to local families who are struggling to afford toys for their children this Christmas.

Russell Lever, Community Relations Officer for Glentoran Football Club, said: “Glentoran is delighted with the success of its inaugural 2011 Christmas Toy Appeal and we would like to thank everyone who generously donated to the Appeal and helped make a real difference to local children this Christmas.”

Myrtle Neill, Development Manager at Carew II Family and Training Centre, said: “Carew II is overwhelmed with the donation of toys that Glentoran Football Club has provided and we will be working over the next few days to ensure that deserving families within inner East Belfast receive the toys.”
