Glentoran hosts successful match day family festivals

Glentoran Football Club welcomed an array of new faces to the Oval recently as families, young football supporters, local junior teams and community groups attended the highly successful Glentoran Match Day Festivals. 

The Match Day Family Festivals – organised by the ‘Our Club, Our Community’ Programme – aimed to encourage families and young fans to attend the matches, and help create a welcoming and family friendly atmosphere at the Oval.

Match Day FestivalGlentoran hosted the Match Day Family Festivals at the recent games against Coleraine (Saturday 25 February) and Ballymena United (Saturday 24 March) and hundreds of families and young supporters took advantage of the prices promotions and activities to enjoy the match day experience.

The price promotions included ‘Kids for a Quid’ that entitled all under 16s entry for £1 and a ‘Mum & Child’ Ticket that entitled mums to bring up to two under 16 children for the concession price of £7. The club also distributed complimentary children’s tickets to 19 local primary schools and 6 local youth organisations got the opportunity to attend the matches free of charge.

The pre-match and half-time activities included Inflatables Games, Face-Painting, Balloon Modelling, Cheerleaders, Cage Football and a Half-Time Football Demonstration.

Russell Lever, Community Relations Officer at Glentoran, said: “The Match Day Festivals proved to be a huge success with the price promotions and match day activities attracting hundreds of families and young fans to the matches, where they got the opportunity to enjoy the games in a welcoming and family friendly atmosphere.
