Sun, 15/01/2017 - 18:10

Glentoran Under 20s have strengthened their squad with the additions of Carter Savage, Dale McCreery and Salou Jallow.

Carter Savage (18), a central defender, signs from Glenavon where he made one senior appearance,  playing 90 minutes against Linfield in the 2015/16 season. Carter was previously with Glentoran, making over 20 appearances for our reserve side aged 16 following his move back home after a brief spell with Dumbarton FC.

Dale McCreery and Salou Jallow (both 18) join from Crusaders. Glens supporters will be familiar with the pair following their performance for the Crusaders first team in our County Antrim Shield defeat in October.

McCreery, a centre who that can also play left back made 3 senior appearances during his time at Crusaders and also won the NI Super Cup Premier Section (former Milk Cup) with County Antrim aged 16, beating Real Sociedad and Club America along the way.

Jallow, an attacking player, has spent his whole youth career with the Crues. He has also made 3 senior appearances. A Northern Ireland youth international from Under 12 to Under 18 level, he has also represented County Down in the NI Super Cup at both junior and senior level.

Glentoran Under 20s manager Mark Clougherty is delighted to welcome all three players into his team. "The 3 boys will add to the young talent already within the u20s at Glentoran. They all come with the aim, and ability, to push into Gary's 1st team in the not so distant future"

Glentoran manager Gary Haveron also has high hopes for the boys: "The 3 lads have signed initially for the under 20's but are very much in the frame for 1st team action. They will train with the 1st team on a regular basis as we will look to build a squad with quality, energetic young players alongside some more experienced senior players to help develop them further. Their chance will come before too long and  it’s up to them to grab opportunities when presented to them. They are the sort of players we plan to build the club’s future around and I'm excited about how far some of our young players can progress"
