This will be the third meeting in the Danske Bank Premiership between Glentoran and Dungannon Swifts. On the previous two meetings Glentoran recorded narrow victories; 1-nil at the Oval on 27th September thanks to a spectacular winner from Stephen McAlorum and 3-2 at Stangmore Park in mid-December with goals from Allen, Stewart and Henderson.

We also met just 4 weeks ago in the Irish Cup quarter-final. The Glens were dominant in that game in horrendous conditions and recorded a 3 goal victory with Allen, Kane and Henderson (pen) all hitting the target for the home side. That set up a semi-final match against Crusaders and last weekend’s victory has put Glentoran in the 2015 Irish Cup final.

However there are 6 Premiership games to play first and Eddie Patterson will be looking for his side to keep the momentum going and get as many points as possible on the board. 4th place in the table will guarantee European football next season, something which would give the club a great financial boost. Motivation shouldn’t be a problem with cup final places up for grabs and hopefully we’ll see this young side continue to grow in confidence as the season reaches its climax.
