New Appointment

Tue, 20/12/2016 - 21:02

Colin Jess

The Chairman and Directors are pleased to announce that Colin Jess has joined the board with immediate effect. He will be heavily involved with the planned redevelopment of the stadium and with revenue generation for the club.

A lifelong Glentoran supporter, Colin has recently taken up a senior role with the social enterprise sector having spent 38 years working in local financial institutions.  In these positions, Colin has developed a significant network of contacts across a wide range of both public and private sector organisations. In the public sector, he has worked particularly closely with the economic development teams within the newly formed local councils, particularly in respect of their new responsibility for driving social, female and youth enterprise. Colin has a long standing interest in the activities of the community sector and in particular the work of Young Enterprise NI, The Princes Trust and Start 360. He is a passionate believer in integrating Glentoran as fully as possible into the initiatives and activities that make up heart of the community of East Belfast.

Colin’s favourite Glentoran player is Jim Cleary who he says was “the best player ever to play in Irish League. A true Glentoran legend and a gentleman as well”.  His favourite Glentoran memories are “Morgan Day” in 2005 and our European Cup match against Juventus in 1977.  In addition to his love of Glentoran FC, he also enjoys golf, rugby and cricket.

We know the Glentoran family will welcome Colin and wish him every success in his new appointment.
