Obituary - Eddie Harvey

Fri, 09/02/2024 - 20:04

In what has been a very sad week for the Glentoran Family, we are very sorry to hear of the death of another very long standing and high profile Glenman, Eddie Harvey.

Eddie was for many years synonymous with the Westbourne Glentoran Supporters Club, where as Chairman he led the club to great success and to its excellent current premises in Solway Street.  The Harvey’s close involvement with the Westbourne goes back nearly 80 years to when Eddie’s father was a founder member. The association will continue well into the future as the club premises are now run by Eddie’s grandsons Corey and Curtis, who also used to manager the Premier Lounge at the Oval.

Corey Harvey said today to www.glentoran.com: “To the Glentoran family, we as a family are completely broken on the loss of a Dad and a Granda. We all know how much Eddie meant to a lot of the Glentoran family and will always mean a lot to them. We can’t thank you all enough for your messages and calls over the last number of hours. It has just gone to show how well he was known and liked by many. From all the Harvey family, we appreciate and thank you all for your messages and support it means everything to us all. THANK YOU.”

Eddie was predeceased by his late wife Margaret. Deepest condolences from Glentoran FC to his sons David, Edward and daughter Jacqueline, grandchildren Curtis, Daryl, Corey, Natasha, Taylor, Faye, Kirsten and the late Ross, and great grandchildren Mya, Sienna, Willow and Leo.

Eddie’s Funeral Service will be held in East Belfast Mission Methodist Church, 239 Newtownards Road at 2.00 pm on Friday 16 February, and afterwards to Roselawn Crematorium for 3.00pm.

Mourners are welcome back to Westbourne GSC for refreshments and food.
