Glentoran Academy hosts St Pat's Dublin

Mon, 26/11/2012 - 13:25

On Sunday the Glentoran Academy u14's took on Pat Lynch's St Pats (Dublin) u15's at The Oval. This was to be a test for the boys playing a team a whole age group up, and a fantastic experience to play on the pitch they might one day grace for the senior side. First team manager Eddie Patterson called in to watch the match and gave the boys some words of advice in the changing room before the game.

Coleraine 1-0 Glentoran

Sat, 24/11/2012 - 18:45

An eighth minute goal from Coleraine’s Shane Jennings was enough to give the Bannsiders the three points at the Showgrounds this afternoon.  Glentoran captain Colin Nixon returned to first team action replacing Jimmy Callacher while David Howland returned to the starting XI in place of the injured Stephen McAlorum.

Glentoran v Coleraine- Preview

Sat, 24/11/2012 - 01:43

On the back of back to back league victories against Dungannon Swifts followed by Lisburn Distillery, Glentoran have seemingly put a halt to the poor run of form that plagued October. The consecutive league victories have seen The Glens rise ahead of Linfield and Ballymena Utd into 5th in the league standings. We remain 9 points off Cliftonville at the top but have closed the gap to inside two points of second place Crusaders and just one point on Ballinamallard Utd and Saturday's oponents Coleraine.

Glentoran v Lisburn Distillery- Preview

Fri, 16/11/2012 - 18:42

Having ended a poor run of form with a late victory at home to Dungannon Swifts last weekend, Glentoran look to build on that result against Lisburn Distillery at New Grosvenor Stadium tomorrow. Andy Waterworth's 50th goal for Glentoran proved the crucial one last weekend as a much needed 3 points was picked up at The Oval. The victory has seen us rise back above our cross-city rivals Linfield into 6th place in the Danske Bank Premiership however notably only 3 points off second. Cliftonville remain top, 9 points clear of us.

Glens Academy at Ibrox

Fri, 16/11/2012 - 18:22

Last weekend, Glentoran U14's side sailed off to Glasgow to play a friendly match against Glasgow Rangers. Their weekend included a tour of the famous Ibrox Stadium as well as taking in a Rangers match before their own game at Murray Park-all in a jammed pack 24 hours! The trip was a fantastic experience for the boys and an experience they will no doubt not forget in a hurry. The highlight was of course was managing to defeat the Glasgow giants 1-0 on the floodlit pitch at Murray Park.
