Match Preview: Glentoran v Carrick Rangers

Friday 14 February 2020, Kick Off 7.45pm

On Friday we look to return to winning ways with the visit of eighth placed Carrick Rangers to the Oval in the Danske Bank Premiership.

We have played and beaten Rangers twice so far this season, firstly in October at home, when two goals from Robbie McDaid and one from Hrvoje Plum gave us a 3-1 home win. In December we played a very tight match at the Belfast Loughshore Arena, with the teams only separated by a second half goal from Navid Nasseri.

Such is the interest, our Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup quarter-final tie against Crusaders on Saturday 29th February has been designated an all ticket game. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow night (Friday 14 February)at the Superstore from 6.30pm (cash only). Any remaining tickets can then be purchased Monday to Thursday 9am to 3pm at the secretary's office and Thursday 4pm to 7.30pm at the Superstore. Tickets will also be available to purchase online  here from 1pm on Monday. Ticket price Adult £12 and Concession £8.

McDaid is January Player of the Month

Robbie McDaid, our top scorer so far this season, has won the supporter vote as Glentoran Player of The Month for January.

The ever popular Robbie, who scored twice in four appearances in a month where we won five of our six matches and went top of the league at this stage for the first time in a decade,  won 47% of the vote, Second was Hrvoje Plum, with  Cricky Gallagher, Paul O’Neill and Jonny Frazer polling well.

New International signing for Glens

Glentoran FC is delighted to announce the signing of Lithuanian international centre forward, Deivydas Matulevičius.

30-year old Deivydas (Dave) has won 36 international caps to date, and most recently played for FK Kauno Zalgiris in his home country. He had a spell in 2017-18 in the SPFL with Hibs under Neil Lennon, and has also had spells playing in Poland, Romania and Belgium.

The 200 Club

Thank you to all those loyal supporters who have remained loyal contributing members of the 200 Club over the last decade. Your continued support has been a great help to the club.

All money raised from the 200 club is split 50%  to a monthly winners pot and the other 50% to pay utility bills for Glentoran.

All Island Football: Special Glentoran information meeting

While a full All-Island League has been ruled out by the Irish FA, the conversation continues about whether some form of cross-border competition could be introduced to bring greater finances and public interest into the game. Glentoran representatives have attended all relevant neetings and - while the club has not taken a view on the concept - we feel our loyal supporters should have the opportunity to hear for themselves and to fully debate the idea with it's strongest advocates.

The Board of Directors of the Glentoran Recreation Company confirmed this week that is delighted to announce that effective from Friday 31st January 2020, the club has discharged all obligations to the final historic creditor.

This could not have been achieved without the support and generosity of the Glentoran Family.
