Game Changer Gail

Mon, 27/01/2020 - 12:59

Gail Redmond, Head Coach at Glentoran Women’s FC, was honoured this week with the highly prestigious Gamechanger Award at this year’s Belfast Telegraph Sports Awards.

Gail’s initial response was to say: “This award came as a total shock, given the great people like Bethany Firth (Swimming), Gemma Begley (GAA) and my friend Ashley Hutton, who won her 100th cap this season. So, I feel really privileged. In fact, I really thought I’d finally made it when Dame Mary Peters gave me a hug on my way back to the table.”.

Sun, 26/01/2020 - 02:20

Glentoran’s incredible 15 game unbeaten league run, and seven game winning run finally came to an end tonight when Larne scored an injury time winner at Inver Park this evening.

Mick McDermott made three changes from last week’s win at Institute: the suspended Robbie McDaid was replaced by Paul O’Neill, Paddy McClean started in midfield in place of Elvio Van Overbeek, and Gavin Peers returned to central defence with last week’s goalscoring debutant Keith Cowan one of this evening’s substitutes.

Wed, 22/01/2020 - 22:29

The club is pleased to announce that Cameron Stewart this evening had an appeal upheld against his recent straight red card against Crusaders.

This means Cameron will not serve a suspension. As Cameron is currently injured he will not be able to return to action, but the club considered it necessary to appeal in defence of Cameron's reputation.

Glentoran Football Club thanks the IFA Disciplinary Committee for a very fair and considered hearing.
