Match Preview: Dungannon Swifts v Glentoran

Tue, 31/12/2019 - 00:26

Saturday 1 January 2020, Kick Off 3.00pm

We begin 2020 with a visit to County Tyrone, hoping to extend our unbeaten league run to thirteen with a winning performance against Dungannon Swifts.

We are currently 26 points and six places ahead of tenth placed Dungannon, and just over a month ago had our heaviest win of the season with a 6-1 home won over Swifts, including a Robbie McDaid hat trick, two from Paul O’Neill and a typical Hrvoje Plum special from a free kick.

Glentoran 2-0 Ballymena United

Sat, 28/12/2019 - 18:47

It's difficult to know where to start with this one. Coming just 48 hours after the superb 3-nil Boxing Day win over Linfield and with a significant number of changes to the starting line up we then endured 85 minutes of nothingness. Indeed with just 5 minutes remaining it looked like it was going to be very much a case of 'After the Lord Mayor's Show'.....and a missed opportunity. The time after 85 minutes though was far from dull!

Thu, 26/12/2019 - 19:29

Glentoran’s season continued in the most positive possible vein at the Oval today, with an outstanding performance yielding a highly deserved 3-0 Boxing Day “Big Two” win over Linfield.  A cheeky first half opener from Elvio Van Overbeek and two in the last fifteen minutes from Hrvoje Plum ensured the Glens have now taken 27 points from a possible 33 in our current eleven game unbeaten run.

Match Preview: Glentoran v Linfield

Mon, 23/12/2019 - 21:07

Thursday 26th December 2019. Kick off 3.00pm.

On Thursday we welcome our old rivals Linfield in the Boxing Day “Big Two” match, the fixture yet again likely to command the year’s biggest club league attendance in Ireland.

Glentoran go into this year’s game in a very different position and in a very different frame of mind. We enter it on a ten-game unbeaten league run whereas last season we went to the National Stadium on the back of a seven-game winless league run. The result that day reflected the relative positions of the two teams.
